Alice and Dorothy
I was always Cinderella, looking for my handsome Prince.
Nah…
Alice and Dorothy
As the rabbit hole goes deeper, and free fall makes me spin.
The tornado takes me up, around and down and back again.
The shards of my existence whiz by with no direction
I hold my breath and hope that G-d will land me with affection.
I need to trust He’ll be there, and that He has my back.
As I fall and spin and notice the stability I lack.
Maybe I am unafraid, maybe I am numb.
Maybe I am terrified, and stillness keeps me dumb.
I won’t read or Google —
too many unshed tears.
So falling, spinning, numbing,
help to quell my screams and fears.
I pray, Dear G-d, You’ve got me.
And also I have You.
So falling, spinning, numbing is the best that I can do.
And when you put me down again, Kansas won’t be there.
But if I’m with You and You’re with me.
A brand new life we’ll share.
